Tissue paper, also known as light crepe paper, is a thin, lightweight paper. Both virgin and recycled paper pulp can be used to make tissue. Intensity, absorbency, base weight, thickness, brightness, stretch, appearance, and comfort are all important properties. Toilet paper, wipes, kitchen towels, handkerchiefs, facial tissue, house hold towels, and napkins are only a few of the items you'll need. Tissue papers are made up of one or more plies, each of one or more layers, and are available in sheets or wraps, folded or unfolded, embossed or un embossed, with or without lamination, and printed or unprinted. In the past two years, the tissue paper industry has exploded. The industry has been able to raise tissue costs and develop new brands by switching to more expensive tissue paper and ultra-absorbent paper towels. Both virgin and recycled paper pulp can be used to make tissue. Bathroom Tissue, Facial Tissue, Paper Towel, Paper Napkin, and Specialty and Wrapping Tissue are the five main varieties of tissue papers.

Tissue and hygiene sales in India grew by double digits in 2016, owing to the customer disposable income and awareness. In India, the market for tissues and wipes has exploded in recent years. Between 2014 and 2019, the global tissue paper industry is expected to expand at a Compound annual growth rate of 4.88 percent. Wiping is done using a variety of different fabrics. Tissue paper, whether used at home, in public restrooms, or in multiplexes, is quickly supplanting this pattern. One of the main reasons for its expansion was that the textile industry was more costly than the low-cost paper used in tissue production. Tissues also use recycled paper, which is an excellent environmental choice. Of course, different types of tissues are available in India today. Soft tissues, facial tissues, scented tissues, silk tissues, and so forth.

India's tissue paper industry is rapidly expanding. Tissue paper is primarily produced in weights ranging from 16 to 35 GSM per square metre. On the top of it, with increasing disposable income, there’s been a sky-rocketing awareness about facial and physical cleanliness in the recent years which has resulted into the growth of manufacturing of tissue paper industry in recent years. Covid-19 has contributed in the growth of demand of tissue papers by many folds and thus the industry is slightly converging from a beauty-oriented industry to an industry which revolves around the healthcare.
