In India, The market for digital textile printing is heading towards a growth phase. This is primarily due to a noteworthy surge in demand for silk, polyester clothing with customized printing design. This has created tremendous opportunities in digital textile printing, and whilst new types of applications are pioneered by digital technologies, several traditional textile applications are likely to shift to digital. Digital textile is an inkjet method that allows manufacturers to print different design that can be virtually made on any kind of fabric and it has a good profitability. The inks used in digital printing are manufactured according to type of fiber, such as cotton, silk or polyester. During digital printing the fabric is fed into the printing device using a roller. The process involves adding ink to the surface in the form of small droplets. After that the fabric is then finished by using either or steam or heat treatment increasing the efficiency. 

Digital Textile Printing is a process of printing on textiles and garments using inkjet technology to print colorants onto fabric. This process allows for single pieces, mid to small-run cycle production and even long-runs as an alternative option to screen printed fabric. The first step in digital textile printing is to pretreat the fabric with liquid solutions that prepare it to accept the dye and better absorb the color. Then it is fed through the printer, which sprays the dye onto the textile with tiny droplets. The final step is fixing the fabric, a process that ensures the permanency of the design. Depending on the type of textile and type of dye, fixing may involve steam, dry heat, or pressure. Sometimes it requires a combination of two or more of those.

The global digital textile printing market was valued at INR 1650 Crores in 2019, and is projected to reach INR 660 billion by 2027, growing at a CAGR of 19.1% from 2020 to 2027. There is a growing demand for digital textile printing inks especially reactive inks and acid inks coupled with upsurge in the use of digital printing as alternative to conventional printing methods. Reactive inks are widely used in in textile industry due to good quality of colours and high wash fastness. Acid inks are used for printing on wool and silk to make swim clothing due to its high tolerance for chlorine and salt water. These factors are in turn expected to drive the growth of the global digital textile printing market. Moreover, growing application of textile printing in vehicle wrapping, automotive interior decoration is anticipated to boost the segment growth in automotive sector.

The rising popularity of sustainable packaging solutions is driving the growth in the digital textile printing market value. Growing focus of the manufacturers on providing innovating packaging solutions will further expand the demand for digital textile printing. Increasing demand for consumer goods, rising demand for digital textile printing in the garment and advertising industries, and growth and expansion of the packaging industry will further induce growth in the digital textile printing market value.
